Metal Finishes
Kyle uses a variety of metals in her acid etched metal designs. Pieces come in up to 5 non-tarnish finishes: Antique
silver (brushed nickel silver), brass and copper have a baked lacquer antique (oxidized/blackened) finish in the recessed etched areas to bring out the details in the design. Polished
Gold and
Polished Silver have shiny, polished, non-tarnish plated finishes of gold or iridium. Acid etching is a process whereby the acid actually cuts out the metal design pieces.
Iridescent Color Film
The shimmery
iridescent color film used behind many of the central design elements is handmade by Kyle in a proprietary process. The color tends to shift across the highly textured surface of the film when viewed from different angles. The iridescent color is a thin layer behind the openwork etched metal designs adhered to the surface of our gift items.
Anodized Aluminum
Our unique gifts can be personalized with anodized
aluminum. The aluminum anodizing process actually improves the metal by making it resistant to corrosion, abrasion and temperature, plus allows the creation of beautiful colors. The aluminum is layered behind the openwork etched metal designs on the surface of the gift items.
Dichroic Glass Colors
The unusual
dichroic glass in our unique gifts has been vacuum-coated with thin layers of special materials to create brilliant, shifting colors. Click on
